Where It Began

It started on a set of bleachers in Evanston, Wyoming.

I was sitting at a PRCA rodeo, flipping through a Cowboys & Indians magazine while waiting for my husband to steer wrestle. Just passing time.

I came across an ad for a pair of Montana West sunglasses turquoise detailing down the sides. They caught my eye, and my mind just went.

How much are those?
Where do you even buy them?
Would other people like these too?
Could I buy them and sell them?

And then the one that stuck…
How cool would it be if there was a store that traveled to rodeos like this? Something that brought a whole shopping experience with it.

Just as fast as the thought came, it had to pause. My husband nodded his head in the box, and it was time to go.

But that idea never really left.

Years later, I still couldn’t shake it. So I stopped ignoring it and built Different Breed West.

What started as a simple thought turned into something bigger than I ever expected. I didn’t just want a store. I wanted an experience. A place that felt like something. A place where women could walk in and feel comfortable, confident, and seen.
